One Day Tour: Kathmandu – Bungamati – Chapagaon – Kathmandu (40 km)

This ride takes us back to the fourteenth century as explore historic villages in south Kahtmandu valley. After early breakfast in Kathmandu, we wind our way through Jawalkhel, Bhainsepati and head south to Bungamati, renowned for its Rato Machhindranath temple and traditional Newari architecture. Then ride continues south, climbing on jeep track through lush forests to the village of Champi, with its sweeping view of the southwestern corner of Kathmandu valley. A combination of a downhill push and an uphill carry through rice field is required to reach picturesque Chapagaon village. The famous Bajra Varahi temple just south of town. They are sadly neglected but still have beautiful woodcarving Krishna and Narayan. From Chapagaon we keep riding to Taukhel (close to the Godawari Central Resort). Here we pick up the paved, but quiet Godawari road, which takes us to Kathmandu.
